Green, Green Grass Of Home został zarejestrowana 11 marca 1975 roku w RCA Studio C Hollywood.  Piosenka doczekał się rejestracji dzięki DJ George Klein notabene przyjacielowi Elvisa, który puścił Green, Green Grass Of Home w wykonani Toma Jonesa w radio. Elvis był w trakcie podróży swoim autobusem Greyhound, kiedy to nagranie usłyszał. Kazał zatrzymać autobus i zadzwonił do Kleina z prośbą o puszczenie nagrania jeszcze raz, co Klein uczynił. Działo się to wszystko w drodze do Memphis w roku 1970. Pięć lat Elvis dojrzewał by nagrać ten przebój country, który ukazał się na albumie Elvis Today (RCA Victir APL1-1039) w maju 1975r.
